Capitol Policeman John Cale has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

  • Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx were the perfect combo for this movie, they seem to have great chemistry. With all the action going on, the banter between them makes the movie a lot more enjoyable. The special effects in this were amazing, and so were the graphics. The plot might seem predictable at points, but sudden twists shake things up nicely. It’s maybe a bit strange that the movie came out only a few months after “Olympus Has Fallen”, because these two movies are practically the same. Between the two, I actually prefer “Olympus Has Fallen” by a slight margin, but I do recommend “White House Down” also.

  • A good film overall but absolutely filled with ‘cheese’, unnecessary cheese lines that this film would have got an 8 otherwise. Good storyline (if not a little far-fetched), good acting (bar the cheese), and good action throughout. One would be slightly miffed by the fact it is a ‘die hard’ copycat, and a bad one at that on the basis of done that seen it before and better. The fight scenes are good as are the explosions, but the CGI for some of the chopper scenes are a little fake which you do really notice and want to be really good but are not. Positives though for this film are that i watched all way through without being bored or lost, the plot is actually quite good and solid.

  • An awful movie, that deserves this generous rating ( 2 & 5 / 5) in its own terms because isn’t as boring as, say, “The Heat” (Sandra Bullocks & Melissa McCarthy); and not too serious as “Olympus is Fallen”; plus Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx aren’t overestimated as Mark Walhberg (“2Guns”). But “White House Down” is just a “Die Hard” copy-paste (including Beethoven music), with a little more boring writting than well action (would have flowed better if trimmed by 25-30 minutes), passable moods and gags, logical holes, some poor clashes… and Joey King is a charismatic girl. Nevertheless “Olympus Has Fallen” is much more action and a “Suddent Death” copy-paste, plus a testimonial statement of USA / NorthCorea conflicts. Bureaucracy of the military to enter the White House is ridiculous (both movies
