  • Let me begin by saying that I am a fan of Night Shyamalan and quite several of his films are among my favorites. I loved “The Unbreakable” and “The Village”. I also thought “Signs” was a very interesting film despite some flaws. “The Happening”, however, misses the mark… Plotwise we expect as audience to understand and appreciate the danger and its origins, at least to some degree. Here, however, the story did not lead anywhere: the actors walked aimlessly in the countryside with nothing meaningful to say, with the still unexplained happenings not making much sense. There is also one other thing that bugs the audience’s minds, how come some people don’t get affected by the plants and they watch in terror at everyone else? The idea was chillingly brilliant and the acting, sound and filming for the past part very good, but the ending completely spoils the climax of what could’ve been quite a good film. The writers seemed to have made the ending up in a rushed five minutes… It was a pity given the talented director and actors involved…
