Zoe Saldana plays a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. • Well, I think I’m becoming a fan of director Olivier Megaton. He was the man behind “Taken 2”, “The Transporter 3”, and now this excellent action movie! Writer Luc Besson is also known for this kind of stuff, and deserves the credits. Very entertaining movie with an excellent Zoe Soldana, and also good locations. Yes, “Colombiana” is a great movie and I liked it a lot!

  • “Colombiana” was actually a nice surprise of a movie. The story was really good and captivating. You got swept up and carried along by the great storyline and it was like you were right there in the middle of everything yourself. Luc Besson is great at doing that with his movies.

Now for a movie of this type, then “Colombiana” is pretty straight forward. Someone has been wronged and scarred by bad people, in this case Cataleya’s parents are killed by a bad guy, and Cataleya spends many years training to become a killer, in order to avenge her parents. Yeah, it is a storyline that has been used before in various movies, but still it works out well enough in “Colombiana”. And given this storyline, you already know the outcome of the movie from the very moment you sit down to watch it. Yeah, it is just that predictable. But still, the movie was quite good.

There is a lot of action in the movie, from the streets of Bogota (eventhough it was a wrong city) to the streets of Chicago. And there was also room for some drama and character development in between the action sequences, which made the movie all the better. The action sequences were well executed and looks really nice on the screen. And the scenes with Cataleya using stealth and trickery to get to her targets, well those were really nicely done. I loved those scenes, because it was as if you were there yourself, feeling the adrenaline rushing and hoping not to get caught.

The people cast for “Colombiana” were doing great jobs with their given roles, and Zoe Saldana really carried the movie with her role as Cataleya.

If you haven’t already seen this movie, get to it, because “Colombiana” is a great revenge-movie (despite being predictable and not having much new to offer that haven’t already been seen before). But the way the movie is put together and the beautiful shots and well-choreographed action really came nicely together for a great experience of a movie. “Colombiana” is well worth checking out.
