  • This movie wasn’t quite what I expected.

When I heard the name of the title I literally laughed in amusement at how ridiculous it sounded. With that being said I had seconds before checked out the cast listings and noticed some many great names such as Richard Jenkins, Matthew Fox, Patrick Wilson and my absolute favorite actor of all time Kurt Russell. I haven’t seen Kurt Russell in a lot of movies recently and was quite excited and I was even more excited when I found out the premise of the movie. Cannibalistic Native Americans sounded like something that would destroy a movie right off the bat but I was wrong… Dead wrong. The movie is very well made and something I was pleasantly surprised at…

However it is not a movie you walk away from with a huge smile on your face. It is very dark and very graphic but never over-the- top. In fact the movie has a slow-burn nature in that it gradually allows you to understand and connect with the characters before all hell breaks loose. The movie is very cold and very quaint and has a very ambient music score that draws you in with its intensity and emotional moments.

The story may be simple but this is more of a character study and almost if not all the performances are fantastic.

Everyone does a great job and I absolutely loved Kurt Russell in it. This movie is definitely worth seeing if you’re a Kurt Russell or horror movie fan. But be warned cause it isn’t a pleasant or milk-warm experience!
